This great round earth of ours is a wonderful, wonderful place ! (Globe and Images)
Wherever we may go, north, south, east, or west, it is ours to enjoy.
We learn many things about the wonders of its lands, seas, and air.

Tall mountains, capped with snow, rise above green valleys.
Great forests spread their shade over the lands.
Deep blue oceans stretch from shore to shore.
Wide rivers water the soil and make all growing things glad.
Fields grow harvests of golden grain.
Animals of all kinds graze on grassy plains and pastures.
Autos, busses, and trucks move on the highways.
Airplanes speed through the skies.
Trains carry passengers and freight across the lands.
Ships from far-off places unload their cargoes at the ports of our earth.

Great cities of skyscrapers and subways are crowded with busy people.
Machines hum in thousands of mills and factories.
Doctors, lawyers, farmers, miners, butchers, bakers, builders, and ever so many others help us every day.
Such a big world with so many different nations !
So many different languages, customs, and religions!
All of the people of our earth are our neighbors.
We must all learn to live together and be happy.
A visit to the universe (Globe and Images)
Some day you may really read of such a trip and decide to take it.
Years ago no one would have believed that men could fly across the ocean.

Today they fly all around our earth.
Let’s pretend that we are boarding a rocket ship for a trip through the heavens. Off we go into the great blue sky.
The earth grows smaller and smaller as we zoom away.
We fly by our moon and head straight for the stars.
Great crowds of them rush past our rocket ship.
They all seem to be hurrying somewhere.
Each star speeds along a certain path.
Almost never does one bump into another.
Now we cruise along the Milky Way.
How many millions and billions and trillions of stars there are!
No one could try to count them.
It would be as easy to count the grains of sand upon a beach.
All of the stars are suns, and they are made up of hot gases.

Our sun is one of the stars.
Some stars are in the universe are many times larger than our sun.
They seem tiny because they are so far away.
It takes many hundreds of years for their light to reach our earth.
We see other things in the skies besides the stars.
There are the moons and the planets. Our earth is one of the planets.
Stars, moons, and planets make up the Universe.
Universe means “including all,” or ” everything.”
Nothing can measure the greatness, the highness, or the wideness of the Universe.
Our rocket ship could fly for millions of years and never reach its ends.
