Diversity and Tolerance
The difference between caste, colour, race, nationality and language of people is called ‘diversity’.
People of different races, religions, languages and regions live together in Pakistan. More or less every country in the world has people of different colour and races. These people live together because of their common characteristics. For example, the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and UAE are the countries where people of different races live together in harmony.

Hassan lives in Islamabad. His father is a government servant. Hassan’s family and many other families live here. In the evening, all the children gather in the park to play. Hassan has a close friendship with Michael, Anjali, Harjeet Singh and Ouyang. On Eid everyone comes to wish Hassan and he also goes to their houses on Christmas, Diwali, Baisakhi and Spring festivals to wish them. Everyone takes care of each other’s happiness and also help each other. Like Islamabad, there are many other cities and places in the world where people of different races, religions, languages and faiths live together in harmony. People living in a society have various abilities and qualities. in the world of such diversity level of work achieved in a short time. Peace and Conflict
Peace means to coexist in harmony. Peace creates an atmosphere of trust, respect and harmony in a society. ) (Respecting different beliefs, ideologies and attitudes in a society is called ‘tolerance’ )

As different people live together in a society, sometimes difference of opinion and disagreement arise; this difference of principles and common interests is called conflict. No matter what the differences of opinion are it should not take the form of conflict (Let all differences be resolved peacefully through dialogue and discussion. Our thoughts and ideas about others shape our attitudes that are important for our daily life. For example, if we have a negative attitude towards someone, we will always misunderstand that person and will create conflicts. But positive attitudes create an environment of peace, trust and harmony among the people of a society. We can resolve all disputes and issues by improving our attitudes whether they are at the domestic level or at the neighborhood level none of us likes to quarrel and create conflicts. Most people try to avoid conflicts so that they can live in peace and harmony by resolving their differences and adopting a positive attitude. We should end our conflicts to prove that we are good citizens. Discussion and dialogue is the best way to resolve conflict by showing respect for the opinion of others. We can resolve conflicts in the following way
- Dialogue is the first step towards resolving any issue. We can start the conversation by selecting words that convey true expressions, thoughts and feelings.
- Always listen carefully. Let the other person have a chance to explain and finish their point of view.
- Try to understand others point of view this will lead to better understanding.
- If you are unable to resolve the dispute, have a mediator and accept the mediator’s decision gladly.
Civic Sense
Living in peace is one of the characteristics of a good citizen. At the same time, it is important to have cultural consciousness. When people develop a sense of respect and good manners, this is called civic sense. By following the given guidelines, we can create the awareness to become good citizens.

- Ethics of Civic Sense
- Awareness of the cleanliness of the house, neighborhood, city and our environment.
- Follow traffic rules.
- Take care of health and hygiene.
Wash
WASH stands for Water Sanitation and Hygiene. It is a global program to improve health as well as prevent spread of an epidemic. The main features of this are to:
- Provide clean drinking water
- Create awareness about the importance of physical hygiene (use of toilets, etc.)
- Ensure that we follow hygienic

WASHING HAND
An epidemic is a those disease which affects a large number of people within a community, population or region. Pandemics an epidemic that spreads over multiple as countries or continents, e.g. Covid-19 is a pandemic.
Just as obeying traffic laws and keeping the environment clean are among the responsibilities of a good citizen, there are some common etiquette that can help a person become a good citizen. Some common etiquette are given below:
- Talk in low tones
- Avoid saying hurt ful words to anyone
- Admit your mistake
- Think before speaking,
- Treat everyone with respect
- Help others
- Be punctual and make queue in public places
- Work diligently and honestly
- Do not talk to strangers
